Home Care Services in Detail

If you've never needed caregivers for your loved one, you may not know the specifics of what home care can offer.  Visiting Angels can help.

Your family member's personal caregiver will be responsible for all of the following Activities of Daily Living.  You can utilize as few or as many services as needed.  The only limiting factor is the number of hours of service you select each week.

Your caregivers can provide:

Hygiene Assistance  is one of our cornerstone in-home care services.  Elderly individuals often require assistance, but are embarrassed to request it of family members.  Your parent or spouse can have access to improved hygiene, and improved health, without losing privacy or dignity.  Hygiene Assistance may include:

  • Bathing Assistance

  • Foot Baths

  • Facial Cleansing

  • Mouth Care

  • Hair Care

  • Bed Baths or Sponge Baths

  • Assistance with Dressing and Grooming

Meal Preparation is important to good health.  Frequently seniors who attempt to live independently have difficulty maintaining a healthy diet, which can lead to a variety of other issues.  While our caregivers won't persuade with undue influence, simply having the capability to obtain and prepare balanced meals will allow your loved one to make better dietary decisions.  We are proud to offer a complete continuum of meal service, from start to finish, including:

  • Planning Menus

  • Shopping

  • Putting Groceries Away

  • Cooking

  • Serving

  • Feeding Assistance

  • Storage of Food Left-overs

  • Clean-up

Light Housekeeping is often one of the primary responsibilities of caregivers.  Maintaining a healthy environment can be as important as maintaining a healthy body.  The physical body, mental and emotional health are all influenced by our surroundings.  Caregivers may be asked to do any of the following:

  • Vacuuming

  • Dusting

  • Glass cleaning

  • Sweeping sidewalks

  • Tub/toilet/sink cleansing

  • Mopping

  • Laundry (including linens and ironing)

  • Trash and recycling removal

  • Ask us about our new Spring Cleaning Service.

Community Involvement can be critical for clients' mental and emotional health.  Your caregivers may assist with:

  • Running Errands

  • Shopping

  • Walks

  • Movies

  • Transportation to Social Activities and Senior Centers

  • Transportation to Doctor Appointments

  • Day Trips can also be arranged to Amish Country, Farmers Markets, Crossroads Village or even Mackinac Island

Joyful Companionship is often the simplest, yet most valuable service caregivers provide.  Your loved one will have a regular companion focused on their interests.  Some examples include:

  • Playing Cards or Games

  • Helping with a Crossword Puzzle

  • Reading Newspapers, Magazines or Novels

  • Sorting and Organizing Photos

  • Retrieving and Reading Mail

  • Writing Correspondence

  • And even hearing repeated stories about the marvelous accomplishments of grandchildren and great grandchildren

Hospital Bedside Sitting services can also be provided by your caregivers.  Your loved one doesn't stop being a client just because they experience illness.  If your parent or spouse requires facility based medical care, your caregivers can continue serving at your pleasure.  The caregiver can be a familiar personal assistant while your loved one recovers, and will be a blessing when they are needed most. All of our in-home services are also available while in hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, or even skilled nursing facilities.

Your people of Visiting Angels are indeed 'Angels'. My mother-in-law had her doubts when we first employed your agency, but soon saw the genuine caring of your staff. She was very pleased with the caregivers and had a special place for them in her heart.
